CamStudio was originally released by a company called RenderSoft who were subsequently bought by a company called eHelp who used some of the technology in their program, RoboDemo Knowing that CamStudio did some of the stuff RoboDemo did for free mainly export to streaming Flash , they released a newer version which fixed some bugs but most importantly, removed certain features.

Gone was the ability to create SWFs, added was the requirement to register to use it, and over time, links to the various webpages that had CamStudio and its source code, became broken. However, I managed to find an earlier version complete with the related CamStudio video codec and the source code for both then put the website up so people could download them. It turns out there’s a bug which means you can’t see anything if you try watching them with Netscape or Firefox Internet Explorer works fine I seem to be getting a lot of questions about a registration code Camstudio did not work well and crashed after the first download.

Just after downloading camstudio i captured one small video and it worked but in the next attempt the file was crashed and did not worked Cons: auto save feature More. Makes whole system unstable – never seen anything like that..

On i5 it gets fps at most, it makes whole system unstable and unre sponsible even when not recording. Sometimes clicking on close or minimise button in any window makes the whole UI go crazy, blinking like it’s active and unactive all over.

I do not recommend it, at least on Win7 x64 More. I click on ‘open with’ and it says text edit. I tried opening it with preview but still no change. I dont know please at least let me know whether it is my computer or Pros: i dont know Cons: i don’t knoe More. This used to be fine BUT now it is loaded with viruses!. I had problems with my old install so I redownloaded it. It installed 3 toolbars into my Firefox and completely hijacked my browser. I had to uninstall Firefox as I could not remove it no matter what.

Now I have to collect all of my bookmarks again.
