There’s no need to introduce Pac-Man , as players all around the world already know about the pizza-inspired glutton and the arcade game’s impact and success in general. And when there’s success, there’s copiers. Pac-Man has been seeing SO many clones follow in its footsteps. Case in point: 3D Maze Man , or as I like to think of it, Pac-Man’s long lost cousin that he does not like to talk about.

In fact, Hasbro who held Pac-Man’s copyright at the time sued eGames over these games, which is why we haven’t seen a 3D Maze Man game since. It is also the weakest of the bunch, providing a mere 10 levels. After the 10th level, the game takes you back to the first level. No difficulty upgrade, no differences, no nothing. You’re basically in limbo, yet the game carries over the save feature from the other 3DMM games, which is highly questionable in this case. The levels themselves can actually be kinda enjoyable when you’re actually playing them.

The game plays smoothly, and the graphics are admittedly nice. You even get to jump like in Pac-Mania! However, the levels suffer from being on the easy side. The ghosts move around in their own paths, and do not attempt to chase down Maze Man with malice. When you do get caught by a ghost, the camera zooms up disturbingly for a close-up shot of Maze Man’s mouth hanging in the air. Design choices like these are peppered in certain aspects of the game, and I fail to see why.
